A few words from “The Sound Guy”
So, if a tree falls in the forest and no one is there to hear it, does it make a sound? The answer is no. Unless you’re a nearby squirrel or bear, then it does make a sound – to them. Otherwise it’s just vibrations in the air. It’s this kind of thing that trips my trigger. I’m a sound guy – what can I say. Well, my son would say “you’re nerding me out, dad”. Great.

Lightspeed Trade Show Coordinator
Passion. It’s my biggest motivator and the best descriptor of my personality. In these upcoming posts I hope to share that passion with a community of like-minded individuals. Whether it’s flying around the country or sitting behind a computer, I’m looking to make a difference each and every day.

Just a Second or Two Affects Everything
While watching some football yesterday (go Packers!), I became frustrated with my cable company. Every few minutes the picture would get pixelated on me. This wasn’t a big deal, as I could still make out what was happening. What annoyed me most was losing the audio. It was just a second or two, but losing even a few seconds of the sportscaster affected my understanding of what was going on.

Classroom Noise Affects Student Attention
Classroom noise impacts students’ ability to pay attention in the classroom. I’ve been in hundreds of classrooms and observed a lot of good teachers. I’m always impressed by their determination to reach every student in spite of the challenges which may include the learning space itself.
Most classrooms are far from ideal listening and learning environments. Every room has its own set of noise issues that negatively impact learning.

White Water Blogger
I’ve never considered myself a blogger, but given the opportunity to interact with educators from around the world is an opportunity I can’t pass up. I’m looking forward to sharing some relevant experiences but more important to me is hearing from you. Your insights and opinions are important, especially as they impact the next generation.
