Even before the COVID-19 era, getting children outdoors on a regular basis was recognized as contributing to the students’ mental health, happiness and overall well-being, in addition to high student engagement and test scores, especially as more people live in urban communities.

We learn by listening. In fact, 85% of what we have learned in our entire life is through listening. Maybe we’re listening to a story over dinner, or having a phone call with a friend on the way to work. Every day we play the role of active listener, and this certainly holds true in the classroom.

The Cypress Fairbanks Independent School District (CFISD) in Houston, Texas is one of the most innovative districts in the nation. Following a bond package passed in 2014, CFISD will have Lightspeed systems in all 91 of their campuses by the end of 2018. The new technology has been a proven success for both teachers and students in an open classroom setting.
